ACHILLES ANNOUNCES THAT TELUS COMMITS TO TWO MORE YEARS AS FOUNDING SPONSOR OF RAINFOREST TRAIL RUN

Unique 5 Km Walk/Run on Sept. 24^th, 2022 celebrates Indigenous cultures and Truth and Reconciliation

BURNABY - Achilles International Track and Field Society (Achilles) is pleased to announce that TELUS has renewed for another two years, its commitment as a founding sponsor of the Rainforest Trail Run (www.rainforesttrailrun.com).

The event begun in 2019 is a unique 5km run/walk through the urban rainforest of Central Park, Burnaby, BC. It is being staged on the traditional, ancestral and unceded territories of the Coast Salish people. The family-oriented walk/run celebrates the health and vibrancy of the Indigenous cultures on whose territory we work, live and play.

Achilles President Marek Jedrzejek said: “TELUS has been a great supporter of our Achilles outdoor and indoor track events over the years, and this sponsorship renewal is an excellent demonstration of their commitment to supporting Indigenous communities, First Nations and healthy lifestyles for all Canadians. Achilles is pleased to present this event and celebration of Indigenous culture as a small step towards truth and reconciliation. We wish all participants an enjoyable and spiritual rainforest experience.”

In addition to the 5 km run/walk through Central Park, there will be a festival component to start the event, with the music and dance of the Coastal Wolf Pack.  Participants will also receive an orange shirt and medal featuring the art of Don Yeomans. TELUS will have an onsite presence with games, brand giveaways and activations.
